HISTORICAL HOMESTEAD

Our minds were blown when we were asked to contribute to the landscape surrounding this historical old home set on a farm just out of Te Karaka in Gisborne, as the house was stunning and surrounded by old plantings and NZ native bush.

 

Our client's bold vision led us to create two very different concepts for this house. One that would suit the existing architectural elements of the home and existing landscape, the second a naturalistic design that created experiences that flowed seamlessly into each other. The second was preferred where we presented a kidney shaped pool with safety fencing that disappeared into the surrounding plantings. Naturally cut hardscape materials, circular parking bays and levelled lawns were retained with large boulders from the area and planted with large drifts of NZ natives.
